I thought males were supposed to hit 10 inches and higher. Her and her cage-mate who is also a female but albino is also 11 inches. I thought females typically didn't hit 10 inches but I may be wrong. They're both 2 years old.
back in the old days that would have been a decent sized female. But, with all the giant genes floating about and then also selectively breeding for larger geckos the 10-11 inch mark doesn't rack up as impressive much anymore.
Ah, gotcha. I actually bought them at petsmart... lol. Yeah I know it's not the best place AT ALL to buy leos but I feel bad for how they keep em and I give in :main_evilgrin:
Pretty poorly, atleast the normal. The albino had his own cage and was healthier than the normal because they shove soo many normal juvies in a cage smaller than a 10 gallon. Pretty thin... before these 2 the first one I bought was extremely skinny and looked at me through the glass so I gave in to him. Had to return him the next day because he wouldn't eat at all
I didn't bother. Tried one time when I bought an African bullfrog from them because they were keeping it in the same cage as a pacman frog. They didn't care at all. Ridiculous
for what it's worth, you might try pointing such out again. If it doesn't work at the associate level, try asking for their supervisor, that doesn't work ask for the assistant or actual store manager.
Might watch the bashing a little too...some of us :main_rolleyes: due to just how life and the economy is work for said company as any income is better than no income and do post here. There are P&Ps in place. Such animals are to be removed from the floor and taken to the vet, ASAP. I know the store I work at is very good at following this.
EDIT:
Additional food for thought. Years ago I had an adult female leo refuse to eat for 3 months. 1 day isn't really a good timeframe to measure upon. New animals within a new environment can take days, weeks, or even months (in my case) to adjust and eat well.
And no offense but I think a life whether human or animal is worth more than $29.99 plus tax for a pet shop that probably makes more off of cat and dog food than reptiles to begin with. They took him to the back for care the guy said when I took him back so I hope he got sold to a good owner . But the 2 leos that I got after the first one were in alot better shape but still, they could do a little better at care. I mean just imagine if you were in the cage. You might be sold to a disrespectful owner and be fed to a bigger lizard or other animal. Not only just that but you're stuck in an environment where people constantly are tapping on the glass or scaring you. Then you also might be getting bullied for food from the other leos in the cage with you. That's just how petsmart is here where I live. I've heard of some really good petsmart and petcos but they should enforce it more nationwide.
