rather not say
Hello, I recently got a leopard gecko. I had him for two days. He is not eating or pooping. How long do you think until he will eat? I think I'm being paranoid but I just want to make sure this is normal.

Thanks.

Its normal. All the sttuff iv read and the people iv asked are very adiment in there beliefes that geckos are stress sensitive. Give it a week or two and he should be finne.

Going off food while moving to a new home is extremely common and is usually always resolved without a problem. New enclosure, new surroundings, these factors can be very stressful for a gecko. Stress can inhibit the appetite and prevent the animal from feeding or showing interest in food. Kind of like how you'd feel if you had a big move to a new location.

Provided appropriate and proper care, husbandry, and heating are being given, as well as stressors being reduced as much as possible, the gecko should usually begin eating anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Some just take longer to get comfortably situated than others. My Hypo ate the first day I brought her home, whereas my Super Snow took two weeks before she would begin eating consistently.

I would not worry at this point, as it has only been a couple of days and your gecko has plenty of fat reserves in his tail. Keep an eye on him, make sure his environment and temperatures are adequate, resist handling (a MAJOR stressor!) and offer food every or every other night. I would only start worrying if the gecko begins displaying symptoms indicative of an underlying illness or health problem.

Hope that helps! :)
