Well my friend is giving me his bearded thsi summer because he can no longer care for it. I saw a 75 gallon tank in the store. The dimensions were 4ft by
18" wide and 21 inches tall. Would this be big enough? He is a full grown dragon.

It would be plenty large enough for an adult Beardie

Have fun setting up the tank and don't be afraid to ask -if you have any questions
Post pics when you get your dragon

75 gallon will be plenty of room for a beardie. Have fun setting up the tank. People here will be happy to help with any questions that you have.

I have heard sand is not a good substrate but some of the others are a pain to clean and dont look very good. Would it be ok if I used sand as a substrate and feed him in a seperate enclosure?

I'm not a big fan of sand because it's a pain when you have to clean the whole tank. I used newspaper and never had a problem

ok i might use newspaper. I like the look of tile but its a pain to get the right kind and cut it to fit. I was thinking a large pice of wood in the middle, a black rock for basking on one side and then life a rock formation or something. I like the look of a rock backround but I dont have time right now to make one. I was just going to use one of those laminated pics that they sel in the pet store.

I use paper towel for my baby and juvie Beardies but I imagine that newspaper would work too
I just don't like the idea of using ink even though it is supposed to be safe

I switched from sand to Care Fresh about 3 years ago for my Blueys and my Beardies and I have had no problems using it

My oldest dragon is 9 and he was raised on play sand and lived on it for the first six years of his life

I switched to the Care Fresh because it is lighter and easier to get out of the tank and is commonly used with Blue Tongue Skinks

I decided to also use it with my adult Beardies since it gives them something to burrow into
A large compressed package is about $20 and goes a long way

Well-it comes in 3 colors
Pink/Blue and a natural Tan
I buy the tan because it is cheaper and not dyed

I guess that I am so used to using it that I really don't think about what it looks like
I just know that they really like it

I use linoleum on the bottom of my beardies tanks. We have the kind that doesn't require an underlayment. It is almost like a foam on the bottom and very soft and flexible. I have several pieces cut to size so I can just take the dirty one out and replace with a clean one right away. It is also really easy to wipe clean, picture a spill on your kitchen linoleum....
it just wipes away.

Enjoy your new buddy, post a picture if you can!

I use tile in mine. My husband grouted it so nothing can get under it. I wipe it down daily and steam clean it to sanitize it once a month. I went with a sand colored tile and like it alot. I a, too paranoid about impaction to use loose subtrate.

That Linoleum sounds like a great alternative
