Is this safe?

I was thinking about putting a small amount of calcium in my leos water, and I was wondering if this is safe. They don't use any of the calcium powder in their dish, so I thought putting a small amount of it in their water would help get the calcium into their system. If it helps, I only use pure bottled water in their water dish

That or they lick it when you aren't watching. Mine always lick them late at night when they are roaming about.

Calcium carbonate isn't even water soluble, right? That's typically what you find in powder form (I think). You need a different source of calcium unless you wanna do some fun chemistry to make it dissolve.

well, I've considered putting some in the water but I know they're smart so I don't worry about it so much anymore ;) Not sure if she actually licks it or just plays with the cap its in but...I always find it in various places in the tank in the morning so at least she knows its there XD But yah, I wouldn't do it if I were you.

I wouldn't worry about it. I never thought my leo used her calcium dish until a couple months after I got her. I watched her go up to it and lick it. I was fascinated because it reminded me of a dog or cat taking a drink of water. My fear of putting calcium in the water is that they will get it unwillingly every time they take a drink, even when they don't think they need it.

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me either. They seem to know when they need it, so they will go get it when they are ready for it. That's why you always leave the calci dish in there for them.
