It seems as though I have an escape artist...

So I came home from work today, and noticed that I hadn't seen Moka being lazily haflway exposed from her hut. Yesterday, I kindasorta forgot I had placed her screen lid on my computer chair, and ended up sitting on it and bending it out of shape. I didn't think much of it because the sides of a 10 gallon are like a foot tall, and she's not all that big. Well, somehow she managed to scale the glass (I still haven't figured that one out), so I tore my room up looking for her, because I know she won't last a long time due to keeping my room fairly cool. Somehow, she managed to get over a foot tall glass wall, off of my dresser, and under my bed in a shirt that had found it's way under there. The tile was icy cold, and so was she. She wasn't thrilled that I ended her escapade. I stuck her and her hide in Eris's cage until I can get to a pet store and get a new lid. So far, they don't seem to be aggressive toward one another, but I think Eris is being a bit dominant. It's to be expected of a gecko more than 20% larger than the other. Either way, I don't think they'll kill each other tonight, as Moka is chilling in her hide, and Eris in her own. That's a good sign, I suppose.

Haven't had the chance to get a new screen lid yet. The two girls seem to share the space without conflict. The first night, I watched them like a hawk, and though Eris did assert her dominance over her domain by being ever present, she never did show any aggression. She has since decided that she prefers Moka's hide more than her own, and thus, Moka has taken residence in the much larger hide where Eris used to sleep. Odd. I guess leos prefer smaller, closer quarters to hide in. Seems they feel more secure in smaller spaces. Moka has been taking full advantage of the much nicer humid hide in this enclosure. If they stay civil, I might just leave them together, as Eris's cage setup is much more stable, and a whole lot easier to feed and maintain with the front doors being able to open and all.

I came home and checked on them just now, and found them both occupying the humid hide in peace. Good sign, I suppose. The picture makes Eris look enormous compared to Moka, but they're really not that much different length-wise, Eris is just thick. Dunno if she's "obese" though. For all I know, she could possibly be a giant. I think she's maybe four months older than Moka.

Cute! I'm glad you found her and the temporary digs are working out. I'd just be careful of feeding time, make sure they're getting the appropriate amount and that one isn't eating more than it's share.
