I just gave away my first leo. It was a normal I produced last year. I gave her to a friend whos wife has been wanting one. I gave him everything he needs to take care of her. I have ten gallon tanks and UTHs laying around from before I had racks. I gave him hides dishes, everything. so I know she will be taken care of but I really did not want to let her go! lol!

Was it this hard for everyone else to part with your first one? :(

I still have my first hatchling from last year. I decided to keep him as long as possible to remind me that he was the start of a great hobby.

My first hatchling is still with me and always will be, even though I have no more plans of using him as a breeder. Eventually I'd like to make a display viv for him to show him off in, but until then he's in the racks.

My first sale of one of my hatchlings was harder then giving one of my breeding groups to my cousin, as I had not produced the adults, and they were still in my family. I love getting updates on how the babies are doing, and I'm not looking forward to the day when I hear that one has passed, as I know all things must die, but I hope to be old and gray before that happens. It's not easy and I don't think we really get used to it, but the first one is the hardest.

I kept my first and one other hatchling from last year. Both are turning out to be some of my favorite leos! Never sell your first! LOL.

But I will admit it was tough selling them for the first time... seeing them grow up and chill out a little bit then sending them away. Luckily I get to keep tabs on them as well though. The one has actually outgrown even my biggest of adults lol.

Regretfully, I sold the first Leopard Gecko I ever owned and the first one I ever hatched after she produced for me as well. I sold them at a show last year as I no longer needed them for projects and knew they would make great pets for someone. I still keep the first Male I bought and used in my first couple of seasons of breeding as a pet. As a matter of fact, he is still the "face" of Frank's Geckos (see my avatar). Most of my breeders this season are only 1st to 3rd year breeders at this point as I pretty much sold off most of my original breeders from my first 4 seasons to make room for the ones I produced and raised myself over the last couple of years. It was hard to let my original breeding groups go, but I am still working with their grandchildren and still keep pictures of all my original geckos :)

My first leo-offspring is still with me and will always be. :sweetheart: I don't have many problems with giving offspring, if I now from the first day, that they aren't keepers. But everytime I give away breeders, I'm really suffering!

Well my first leo who is now 7 years old. I plan to attempt to breed her this summer and the first baby will be grown up exactly how she was, in a tank with all kind of goodies, i have a feeling im gona be SUPER attatched to this girl. Once she hits an age where she can stand her own with her moma(shes a monsterly huge). I'll be puttin her with her mother and they will live out their days in my custom made natural cage. Now moma just has to get into gear and produce some eggs lol.

Well heres one suggestion on parting with offspring, dont name them give them numbers or something. At least thats what i used to do when i breed hamsters a few years ago. Just name your keepers hehe.

I still have my first as well. Selling the others wasn't too hard for me, but last month I sold almost half of the babies I produced last year and a few breeders in a huge group lot which was very hard. I'm still getting over selling a couple of them. However, I know they found good homes and that makes a big difference.

I recently hatched my first one and I dont plan on letting her go. I was trying to prove out a possible het RAPTOR and only one egg out of 6 hatched (incubator problems). I was hoping for a Red eyed Reverse stripe but instead I got a nice albino jungle with a fully striped tail. I doubt I could sell her or my first Red eye, whenever one of those hatches for me.
