I've noticed that Leopard Geckos lick to show affection! I have two questions.

Is it true are they like dogs? I notice when I go to kiss either of my leopard geckos they will stick out their toungue and lick me. It is sooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They also lick one another too.
Its so cute, and I cant beleive the level of intelligence these creatures show! So are they similar to dogs is that way?
Also I had another question will one species of a lizard mimic another species of a lizard?
My new leopard gecko Leona likes to climb the lizard ladder i bought, and just hang there as though she is a Long Tail lizard like her friend and tankmate Sundae. I will show a pic of the enclosure. She likes to hang from the lizard ladder on the right.

I don't know if they are mimicing each other, but leos will climb anything! they may be clumsy, but they are determined!

And the licking is more like a snake than a dog. Its how they get information about their surroundings. I like to get mine to taste my finger before I pick them up. Its like conditioning... so they know what I'm about to do.

Thats adorable! Thanks. You wont beleive this but Leona looks like the same color as Diamond---- but today she turned dark purple and then grey. I know that people refer to the albinos as mood geckos, but I have had Diamond months she never turns such a distinctly different shade altogether like Leona does.

Maybe Leona is part blizzard? Blizzards change to purple and grey all the time. Unless they are kept very warm, they seldom reach a true white. Just look at my avatar.

Leona is definately blizzard. I love how she changes different colors!!!!I thought that Diamond was blizzard too. Now I am really confused. If they look exactly the same how come diamond doesnt change colors?

This morning now they are both the same color. But now they are both hanging out on the lizard ladder rather than in their cave. I thought that leopard geckos only hang out in caves rather than hanging and falling asleep while in midair like a bat. its so cute though! Ive always loved bats. Now they both copy each others behaviour.

Diamond probably is an albino/blizzard, or 'blazing blizzard'. That would mean no melanin, so she doesnt change color.

I'm so glad that they "hang" together!

I always get nervous, because whenever I put my hand in front of mine, she licks me.
And then she bites me ;__;
I feed her and that's how she repays me. Feels bad, man.

She is associating you with food, which is kinda cool.

But after she licks, pick her up. That way she'll not think of food, but expect to be handled.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets "gecko kisses!" The day before my nasal surgery, my female, Marnie, walked up and rubbed her chin on my nose! I took it to mean she was wishing me luck. She came back a few days ago to check out the doc's work and gave me a kiss! Gex are great! They do each have their own personalities.

What species of lizard is Sundae? Is it an actual long tailed lizard or something else? Does Sundae live in the same tank as your Gecko and pics of Sundae would be nice.
