Jack isn't much of a snacker

It's been a month now since we've had Jack and we've noticed that other than live:

Crickets
Mealworms
Waxworms

Jack won't touch anything else. I put a small soda bottle cap in his home with various Leo snacks & other freeze dried goodies but he just thumbs his gecko nose at it. If it moves he loves it.
Is eating dead crickets and worms something Jack might eventually grow into or is it just pointless to keep trying?
Yesterday i bought a bottle of 5 insect freeze-dried mix treat for him and put a little in his bottle cap and he came out, looked at it, sniffed it and turned around and went back into his hothouse. This morning i checked the cap and i think a bug might be missing. So maybe he tried, but he probably didn't.

I'm just sort of surprised that crap is still being manufactured. Almost nothing will eat it and there's really not much point to eating it for the few things that are actually inclined to try. Chitinous exo-skeletons and preservatives, mmm-MMM.

Sadly, you and I (and probably a few others) know that stuff is available for the piece of mind for parents that get little 9.y.o Tommy or Suzie a pet gecko or some other lizard in hopes that they don't have to feed live insects. Maybe if we treat them like a dog or cat with canned food they'll eat it?! It's akin, to me, like feeding solely mealies...plain laziness and mere convenience on the part of the keeper.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I had a feeling it was going to be a lost cause. I figured it might give him a chance for a "late night snack" after his live food hunting. It's sad how they have shelves of those "so called snacks" that salespeople push and idiots like me keep buying them :D

I'm glad i found my way here. You are all going to save me a ton of money.
