Before the storm lol! We took some time today in the "yard"(a very small section of grass lol) and I took the chance to get a few pics of him.

He's gotten very good about "his yard" and staying in it. He likes to walk the edge to see who's been by.

When the neighbors came out I put his leash on him. I don't think they'd appreciate Jay crawling into the back seat with the kids lol.

And in the last pic we are working on stay. He's pretty good so far. I also have a question for other rescue dog owners that have been accustomed to living in a small kennel environment. Notice the clean yard? I didn't crop this pic for the humor's sake. I havent scooped for a couple days due to more over time at work as you can see in the left side. I don't move it either. I have to assume that Jay left his leavings in one area of the kennel and is considering to do so in "his yard." Every other dog I have dog-sat for has plopped them right in the middle of the yard. Is this normal for a kenneled rescue dog? Or did I just end up with a dog that likes to not worry about stepping in something?

Anyway here is the pic

Well, one more. Waiting patiently at the door

He is beautiful. I would think if he was stuck in a kennel all the time he learned to keep it all in one place to avoid and nastiness. Congrats on the rescue. They tend to be the best dogs once they realize you are going to be good to them.

Aw, he's a cutie!

As for the yard thing, all of my current dogs are rescues but only one ever spent time in an actual shelter. I haven't noticed them (or just her) only using one area.. it's pretty much all over the place but that could also be just because there's five of them and it's hard to keep track. The dogs have their run of about an acre so maybe it's because they have so much space.

The dog I grew up with spent time in a shelter before we adopted her. In the first yard we had which was all grass, I don't remember her ever having a "spot". The second yard we had her in had one area that was all ivy-type plants instead of grass, and that's where she did all her business. In the third yard, there was some that was all dirt along a fence line, and again she did her business there and saved the grassy part for running and playing.

I think there's probably a lot of different factors about the whys and where's of all of this... but it's starting to worry me that I'm thinking so much about it so I don't think I'll ramble on any further. :p *cough* Anyways, again, he's quite the cutie and that's great that you rescued him!
