Hello My name is Jeanene and I just joined the forum less than a month ago. My interest in leopard geckos first started when I started dating my boyfriend Matias 3 years ago. He had a high yellow male leo called "Castro". It was awhile later and we decided to go to an expo to see if we could get him a friend. We looked around and there were so many different morphs it was hard to choose just one and we ended up going home with 4 more!:main_laugh: These 4 are now the staple original geckos as we now have 15! Last year we had just missed the Daytona Expo so this year we are most definitely going and I am really excited.:D I am hoping to pick up a tangerine tornado, and some giants. Next year we are going to (hopefully) start up a website and start offering some super giants! I can't wait to see what babies come from the adults I have. I can see how people get addicted! My favorite has to be Cleo, she was sick :(- she was just 40 grams after one year while her clutch mate was 90g. We found out what it was and within a month she went up to 60g and she seems happy to be feeling better!

Orlando UCF area. I have one class left until I finish my Biology degree! I took a animal physiology class this summer and learned how/why leos produce urates(the white part of the poops). They share the ability with birds, it helps them extract the most amount of water from their food! To get rid of nitrogenous wastes leos use uric acid which can be excreted as a white solid while we humans utilize urea which is excreted as liquid. (We are a sub-tropical species and do not hang on to water very well) It's kind of cool you can tell which animals are most adept at living in dry weather because they will have really long colons. Like an ostrich in which over 50% of its GI tract is the colon. :) I guess I went on a tangent there, but hey I love these little guys inside and out. :main_laugh::main_laugh:
