http://www.junglebox.net/category/VIV.html has anyone tried these? any opinions? will they fit an el cheapo 10 gallon from petco? looks like it could be a nice way to make an inexpensive crestie viv. i say 10 gallon cuz my crestie is only 4 months old and very tiny. i want to move it up to a large cage gradually. i would do a 20 long in the future if these kits work out.

I've never tried it but I've heard good things. Though I'd think it'd be cheaper to just buy the 20 gallon and put the crestie in there now. You can't really move him from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon "gradually." :p

well, i'm used to snakes. if you put them in a too large of cage it can stress them out. is that not the case with cresties?

"Hatchlings up to four months should be kept in a smaller enclosure, as they have been known to not eat well if the enclosure is too large. Hatchlings up to four months feel more secure in smaller enclosures, preferably a 10-gallon aquarium. Kritter Keepers are ideal, as they are small enough so that the baby and juvenile geckos can find food easily. The crested gecko can be moved to a larger enclosure once it is four months old."

So it sounds like now or sometime soon would be a good time to move him/her to a 20 gallon. Plus that'll save you about $30. ;)

Every reptile is different. What is true for one isn't true for another. You might wanna give that whole page a read just to make sure you've got everything else right. And glad I could help. :)

I've read several care sheets including the one I got from the breeder. Everything else i've done so far is according to it. It just doesn't say anything about when to move to a full size viv. Thanks for your info. I appreciate it.

I actually have 3 of these. They are kind of a pain to put in, but they are worth it. There's more climbing room for the cresties. Mine actually seem more active now that they are set up like this since I switched them over vs their old set up. Planning on getting at least one more for my last adult when I can. When I did order it, they did also send a free plant sample you can use as well. I'm not sure if they still do that or not.
