i just got a new gecko, and she is acting strange. she does have fertilized eggs in her stomach, so that might be the unusual behavior. she has been kicking the sand in the water bowl, and when i get home from work, the water bowl is very muddy. do you think it is because she is getting ready to lay her eggs? i have made her a nice egg laying chamber.

Sounds like she is getting ready to lay her eggs. What substrate is in her lay box?

Sounds like a laying behavior to me too.. what's in the box? How wet is it? and is it on the cool side or warm side?

She always digs everything..I think she gets really bored. She always seemed to dig alot though right before she was abot to lay. Watch for eggs she was bred with Chris and Phil's Urban sunglow Cronus you should have some nice babies...make sure to post pics if they hatch

No we haven't sold her yet...they used to be in a tank together until we moved into rack systems thye are so funny to watch together. For example bear loves crickets and would always go crazy when we put them in the tank but she wold ALWAYS save a few for hercules it was funny becaseu you could see that she wanted the crickets but would always look back at hercules. Its too cute.

Since sand is not a natural substrate for leopard geckos, try using regular peat moss in the lay box.

i agree, i was wondering why no one said anything about the sand.. Peat or cocoa fiber would be best for her to lay her eggs in.. she may be looking for something that feels right and the sand isn't giving her that, so she's restless..

good luck.. i'm sure they'll be gorgeous..

i also have some peat moss too, over the sand. i was freaking out a bit today because i say 2 things that resembled eggs in the poop corner of the tank. they looked too small to be eggs, but to weird for poop. i tried to check her stomach, but i just couldnt tell if they are still in there. do they have miscarriages or something like that, and if they did would they put it in the poop corner? i think i am just worried and paranoid because i tried to breed with my other female, but i think she was a cool female. i am sort of a pessimist when it comes to something so great like it laying eggs.
