Just got him home today from the local repticon. I'm sure he is stressed and all but how soon should I expect him to start eating?

He has a small bowel of mealworms but he wanted nothing to do with it. He's just under his hide on the warm side and is not really moving around much at all.

It's been years since I got a young one so I really don't remember.

Here are a couple pics of him...and thanks in advance. :)

Just keep offering him food and he will eventually eat. Sometimes it takes weeks until they are comfortable enough in their new surroundings to eat. Just make sure theirs plenty of fresh water and make sure your temps are warm enough. Good luck.

Make sure your temps are right, make sure it has enough hiding places, water and leave a bowl of meal worms in with it. Then just leave it alone. I count the meal worms so that I know they it is eating.

He's pretty cute!

My temps are spot on, he has 3 hides (one being a humid hide which he was in this morning) and there is a small bowel of meal worms and a bowel of water. I'm just not sure he will find the worms....

He will.

I had the same concerns about our hatchling and she is getting huge. I just keep track of her weight and how many worms she eats.

He's a bit thin so I hope he doesn't go too long without eating. A week seems like it might be too long. :(

I always tempted my new additions (while they are in their hides) with a fat wiggly worm, right at the doorway. Even my most timid ones, would reach out and grab it.:main_yes:

I did kind of tilt the little bowel in front of him where he could see the worms but no luck. :(

He's still not wanting to eat.

I put him in a small tub with some worms for a while but he did not go for it.

I might try crickets tonight....

Try using tongs to wiggle a worm a couple of inches in front of him or his hide entrance. Use small twitchy movements to attract his attention. If that doesn't work, try dropping the worm in front of him and letting the worm's natural movements possibly attract his attention. If he completely ignores it, it might mean he's not seeing it, but if he looks at it, maybe licks it, but then turns his head away, then that means he's not interested in eating it. If the crickets don't work, I say give him a few days before offering food again. I'm not sure how frequently you offer food, but if he doesn't want to eat and you keep trying to feed him, it might be stressing him out more.
