Hi all! I just want to share with you that I've made it to construct my own incubator which works just perfectly
I have my first gecko egg ever and I've candled it 3 days ago. The bullseye was there!
Now the egg has about 10 days and for pure curiosity I've checked again how it looks- there are veins everwhere and the egg is beginning to glow more reddish
I am so happy!
I know that it is not healthy for the baby inside to check so often, but I have excactly the same temperature now in home that in the incu (man it's hot!). Now that I am sure the incubator works I can sleep at ease
I cant post the photos of my incubator because of egg, but it is made of styrofoam 3cm thick, inside there's a heat cable wrapped around 3 little plastic bottles filled with water. I place the box with vermiculite on top of this and voila
My thermostate is regulated so the temperature oscilates between 26,6-26,8 deg C! Only 0,2 deg difference!
Anyway, I am incubating for females, do you think I could rise the temperature from 26,7C (80 F) to 30C (87F)? I am planing on doing it slowly, about 0,5 deg C a day, after 2 weeks of incubiation. Is it safe?
