Is there any way to make a female stop laying eggs? I bought a female a while back and she was pretty small, and a little skinny. She ended up laying 2 eggs 4 days later. I've been trying to fatten her up for like a month now, and she really hasn't gotten any fatter, even though she eats like crazy. She hasn't lost weight either though. I'm just concerned that this isn't healthy for her. Any ideas?

I've been feeding her a wax worm or 2 a day btw.

No, there's no way to stop them from laying eggs except to cool them down and feed less, but if you did that and she is seriously skinny she might just die. I would just continue feeding her till she is done.

Yeah, as long as she's eating well just let her lay the eggs she is carrying. There's no way to reverse the process once someone has subjected her to breeding.

But going on your description, I also would suggest that you not subject her to any other breeding until you have her up to a nice healthy weight level. I hope all goes well for her! :)

Any chance that she also has internal parasites?

No offense meant but I know that females will/can drop weight from laying but if she hasn't had a fecal done recently then maybe you should bring a poop sample into the vet

Good Luck with her

Well, personally, I wouldn't breed her for at least another year with this going on. The petstore people are the ones that bred her.

No offense taken. :) I doubt she has internal parasites though, because she's laid 4 huge eggs, and she has not lost weight. She's staying a consistent size(except when the eggs inside get big, and then she lays them and she's small again). Her tail looks slightly bigger also. I know she's still a little skinny, but I doubt she has internal parasites. Any thoughts?

Her tail looks nice and fat, but I can see how she can get sinifigantly skinnier when she lays the eggs.
Good luck with her! :D

She is very pretty
As long as she isn't losing a lot of weight then I would also suggest that you just keep offering her all that she wants to eat and keep up with the supplements and let her lay her eggs -hopefully she will be done laying soon

Good Luck with her

Personally, I have had females that lose a lot of weight after each lay and I have had females that keep a lot of weight and fat tails through the whole breeding seaon. If you still don't feel good about it after a few days, then maybe you should head to the vet. But for the females I have who lay their eggs and don't lose much weight, I take it as a good year for them, and those are the females like I like to keep for multiple breeding seasons.
