Keeping heat constant

I'll be getting my first leopard gecko in a few days and I've got a couple questions about the heat. Do the temperatures stay the same all the time? Or should they drop a bit during the night? What should the temps be on each side of the tank?
Do I need a heat lamp and UTH? Or just a uth? And what's the best way to make sure it's keeping the tank at the right temp for the gecko? Should the uth stay on all the time?

Sorry for so many questions. Thanks :]

The UTH is more important then a heat lamp. I use a heatlamp during the winter to help keep the temps and for night time viewing. I use the Nocturnal Infrared heat lights that ZooMed and Exo-Terra make. The UTH should always stay on. If you don't mind spending anouther $100-140.00 you can buy a good thermostat. It will regualate the temp for you. I use one on my rack. Your temps will lower at night but not awhole lot.
Temps for the ground on the hot end high 88-92 cold end 78.
