killing superworms for fun?????

i recently adopted 3 female tangerines and was told they were fed supers and mealies before. they are between 2 and 4 years old and are a little on the skinny side, i just weighed them and they are at 38.9g, 38.3g, and 46.8g. they do eat the mealworms now and msybe a waxie as a treat, but they have gone after the supers and just grabbed them and crunched their heads in and the dropped them. anyone else experienced this before? :behead::behead::behead:

are they just too small for the supers right now or are they just being picky eaters?

What I do to get a proper feeding response is to skip a day of feeding for some of my lizards that can be picky at times. That straightens them out. It's not unusual for some of our leos to simply not be hungry one day. No big deal, they eat like a pig the next day. The females almost stop eating a few days before laying, then are ravenous after they do their business. All our leos prefer supers to anything else, fortunately that's their staple

Two of our females will do this on occasion with Dubia that are on the larger size of what they can handle. I just leave the dead and mangled roach in the enclosure and it is usually eaten en a few hours. It like they do it so they don't have to go find it next time! Only our two gravid females do this though!

yeah i think im going to use both of your methods combined haha, thanks for the info. maybe they just like to watch them suffer before they eat them haha :main_evilgrin:

just put them in a dish and change it with new supers or mealies when needed. I do this and every now and then hand feed my geckos when I am able too. And when I did hand feed daily, I found that the geckos ate more every other day.

well i left them mealies in a dish and water on saturday morning and went on vacation until tonight and when i got home one ate 4 supers, another ate 3, and the last one at two

They were happy to see you I think sometimes we try too hard and they just want to be left alone.
