Okay so i dont pay much attention to the colony its been about 2-3 months..

i water them and feed a lot of different things.. kitten chow, carrots, muffins, veggies, any thing else i have around..

heat cord under the the tub to raise temps.. more.. normal room temp is 87ish

so after looking i have

probably 100 or more adaults

It took about three months for my adults to give babies.
And now I get at least 60 babies every couple days. My females are just producing machines.

Some people have said that oranges are a booster for the roaches, get them in the mood, or something like that. Lol

Ive been pumping out babies since the get go!!!

Have you tried Orange?? I did do orange for quite a few weeks as I read on a bunch of places that oranges seem to help kick start breeding.

Also what do you mean by adult dubia?? There is a difference between adult and breeding size. Do you have some pics of your "adults"? And how many of that 100 are males and how many are females??

No wonder dubias are illegal in Forida! We grow oranges.

Looks like you have some really big nymphs. We just found it helpful to add mixed/small nymphs to get the colony going.

Saw the pics , mostly large nymphs and a few adults (mostly males) takes time , i started with 20 females and 5 males all adults in march and have only a hundred , started with turkish roaches at the same time , went from 1000 to 6k+ in 3 months , colony crashed and was left with 100 or so 2 months ago . now at a few hundred adults and thousands of babies . sorry for the long winded response , just sharing.

I agree you don't seem to have a ton of adult breeding female...get more breeding females, not just large nymphs. Don't worry too much about getting baby nymphs that won't do much for you. There is a vendor on ebay who has bids for breeding adults....otherwise you can get some I think from The Roach Guy.com. one male to every 5-6 breeding full size females.

Try oranges as well...its worth a try.

@ Laney thats hilarous I never thought about that!!!!

Don't mean to jack, but I get lots of nymphs that turn into males & I feed a good number of males off. Is there a way to tell if the male is a breeder ? I'd hate to end up feeding off all my mature males. I tend to harvest the smaller males & leave th bigger ones though. Just a question!

So the skinny males are mature? Most to all of my males have full wings, but some are bulkier than others. <-those are safe to feed off?
