Lamp Question

Hello there!

Just have a quick question about lamps.

I use UTH, but I'd like a lamp so that I can see the little fellow at night.

If I'm to use a night glo light, what wattage should I get? If it changes anything, I have a 10 gallons terrarium.

Second, can I just use a standard lamp, if it matches the required wattage? Because ones like Exo Terra's porcelain glow light go for about $35 here in Montreal, while I could just get a "normal" one in WalMart-type stores for about a third of the price.

Thanks!

If your temperatures are perfect and you don't need the lamp for heat, then go with something low wattage because they will heat up the enclosure. I prefer to use an infrared (red) bulb because (apparently) leopard geckos can't see red light. I have heard that it's really hard to see them with the night glo blue lamps. I'm sure you can use any lamp as long as it can take incandescent blubs and is rated for the wattage. If you need the blub for heat then it's probably better to use a reflective dome type lamp, but just as a light source it shouldn't matter at all.
