Late denting

My egg has been incubating at 88 degrees for 36 days. The vermiculite seems to be fine...moist but not to moist. I open the container once a week for air exchange. I candled the egg at 1 week and again at 2 and both times it was pink and at 2 weeks the little veins were visible. I checked on it today ( through the window) and it has 2 dents in it:( . I thought that this one would make it. I plan on continuing to incubate it till it's flat but does anyone know why it would dent this late in? This is my first egg and I looked through my books and it didn't mention the denting this late along.

Getting close? My eggs hatch around 35 days at that temp. Some 34 days, others 39-40 days.

Put a damp piece of paper towel on it and be prepared to see a hatchling(hopefully) in a day or 2. You don't really need too big a piece and it's not really needed, but can't hurt. Some eggs dent RIGHT before hatching :)

OMG!!! That is great news. Thanks. I am so excited. I was going by the books and thought it took 45-50 days so I was worried that I was about to loose this egg. She has laid 10 and this has been the only fertile one so I have been so excited. Thanks again.

Remember MY eggs hatch at that time period, your incubator could be different(My temps are read via 2 probes and a heat gun as a control)

But I think you are about to get a hatchling very soon .... hopefully ;)

I have a hobavator and I have a spyder thermostat to control the temps. I also have a digital therm with a probe set in a "dummy" container. Hopefully I will get my first hatchling soon. This little guy has no idea how excited we are about him.
