I would like to see some pics of your lay box's I built one out of a large ziploc container by cutting a hole in the top of it and filling it with damp sphagnum moss. It has started to smell somewhat musty and my female doesn't seem to pay attention to it. Would it be better to keep the lid right off?

Thanks

i just did the same lay box set up as you. from what i hear the moss is good for the eggs.. take the lid off for a bit and let it dry out a little. you can also rinse the moss with water and wait till its damp but not dripping before you put it back in. i also use vermiculite in my other lay box.

Give coco fiber a try, it's a great laybox medium. It also allows your female to dig, and cover the eggs in a way that they feel it's safe for the eggs.

I use ziploc plastic boxes with a hole cut out of the top but I put peat moss inside. I learned this technique from Steve Sykes and it works great. I bought a 20 lb bag for like $10 and I don't think I'll ever need another one. I like to take out the few twigs that are left before adding water. It holds moisture great and I've never had an issue with mold. You'll find that your geckos are inside it nearly at all times. I use them as moist hides all year round.

Thanks for the replies I tried coco fiber since that's what I had on hand she seems to love it shes been digging and making a mess dragging it out on the tile lol the peat moss sounds like a good idea too I might have to try it down the road.
