Laying before the male was in? Any hope?

I have a big female that I purchased and was in quarantine. The male I already had, and he was ready to go. The female started producing eggs in quarantine, before I had a chance to put the male in. The male is in now and he has been breeding her, but her last clutch turned out to be water balloons again. I believe they started to form before the male was in.

Is there any hope that her next clutch will be fertile? I assume they could/should be, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this.

It's possible. I had a female lay 3 clutches of slugs before I put her with my male. Her last 3 clutches have been fertile. You could always try putting the male back in with her again.

Did she finish her quarantine before you put him in? Hopefully she didn't have anything that could have passed to him...

Yes, I finished the quarantine. That's why she was able to lay two clutches weeks after I received her. I'm hoping the next batch feels more like marshmallows instead of little water balloons.
