laying eggs question

My two year old female leo has never been bred, and never laid any eggs for me. If I allow her to breed this year, then I expect that she will begin to lay some eggs for me, and hopefully lay at least a couple will be fertile and hatch so I can enjoy watching babies grow.

If I breed her this year only, in following years, will she continue to stress her body and risk becoming egg bound and try to lay eggs even though she hasn't been bred?

Thanks for your reply, David. I guess my question is not clear.

She is my pet, so I am not interested in making lots of babies from her. I was just thinking that maybe hatching some little ones just this once, and watching them grow up would be a lot of fun.

Since she hasn't started an egg laying cycle, I was wondering if breeding her would cause the cycle to start and continue for years to come, or if unbred next year (and the next and next . . . ) she would only lay the occasional egg, and most of the time reabsorb like she is doing now.

Thanks John,

So there is a good chance that after she's no longer fertile, she'll go back to re-absorbing.

That is what I was wanting to know :)

Space-wise, 3-12 babies will be as much as I can handle, with fewer being better.
