Left eye half blood shot

About a week ago my little afghan girl got some stuck shed on her head, not something that usually happens but I've handled this with no problems in the past with a simple warm bath, the shed came of in one whole piece but today I noticed she wasn't able to open her left eye, I was closely looking for any sign that some skin was still stuck but I couldn't see anything. She then forced her eye open and I noticed half her eye is blood shot, I can't get her to the vet for two days so I want to know if there is anything I can do in the mean time to help her hold her eye open and if anyone has dealt with this before and if it's serious or just a minor irritation of some sort, I've heard the pure saline eye drops can help, has anyone ever used this an did it work?

I would think saline would be the way to go if you do anything before getting her to a vet. If the eye is injured and hurting, she won't keep it open, but that's probably all right until you can get some treatment from a vet.

Never experienced this, so can't give any more help, sorry.

My SO had a blood vessel burst in his eye and it kinda of looked like this. If there are no other problems, it may just heal on its own.

*update* I tried saline eye drops and she's able to keep her eye open if it's not to bright in the room and the redness is starting to fade but not much, I called my vet and he said monitor closely for gooeyness in her eye and to make sure the red continues to fade otherwise I need to bring her in. She said it sounds like the stick shed popped a blood vessel and that it's no major concern as long as symptoms don't worsen.

Yeah they're great. same vet clinic that NERD uses for all their animals, I live like 3 minutes away from both so it's really convenient.
