leg bent backwards

OK I just had a customer return a gecko and the rear leg bends backwards sometimes see pic. ..

What causes this ?
The gecko has been given proper suplements.
And shows no signs of mbd

I don't have an answer for you but I just saw a photo of gecko with the back leg bent the wrong way in one photo and normal in the next... weird. Here is the link: http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=90249

I also don't have an answer but to me it looks like its just rolled its leg in the hip socket. More like its pushing backwards with that leg? If that makes any sense. Not sure how else to word it. Or is the "knee" itself bending the opposite direction?

Similar to double jointed hip. . Bends normally most of the r one

If it was flaccid and just flopping either which way randomly, then I think I would be concerned. But if I remembered right I had a few that would do this when scooting backwards or pivoting. None had any mobility issues. I don't think I would have returned the leo unless, like I said before, it appeared to have no control over it or had issues bearing weight on it. But I'm no expert haha.

agreed if the whole leg is not flopping about then its most likely fine.
dose the leo show signs or being uncomfortable walking? like limping or any thing?
one of my female macs has a similar thing (not as bad)
vet checked her and all is well, he said she just probs has a funny pelvis and not to breed from her.

the gecko in the other photo posed looks like it has MBD and its rather sickly looking.

nope no limping. no other issues.. in fact one of the fastest geckos i have seen.
