new gecko, it was my brothers but he left me with it about 2 weeks ago.
about mid last week i noticed his eye had a milky film over it. a friend of mine is great with reptiles and has many leos herself. i asked her about it, she told me to soak him in warm water. while soaking him, i notice a hang-nail like piece of shed sticking out of his eye. so i called her and she told me it sounded like he just had some shed in his eye. he was starting to shed again, the next day, and so i was hoping it would come off this time.
he finished shedding his head skin last night. i was not home, but my parents both told me that they saw both of his eyes open.
however, he hadnt opened his eye since. I JUST saw him open his eye, for a short period. it doesnt look like the hang-nail type skin is in there, but still has a milky film over it. it moves, when he licks it, or moves it (blinks and such) so its not affixed to his eyeball. good news.
but what could it be? should i take him to a vet? what does the average vet visit cost (minus meds or what else might be added on)?
im worried about the poor little guy and just want to do whats best for him.
also, hasnt eaten in the past week-- could this just be because he was shedding? i even put mealworms right in front of him and he could have cared less.
