I have a pair of leopard geckos, I've only had them since 19th june. they are both healthy, niuce fat tails, the previous owner said they were eating well, however I haven't seen them eat anything since I've had them but I'm putting that down to relocation stress. The female went into the moist hide monday night and has been there on and off ever since, is this normal? She does look as if she's shed, When i checked her yesterday she looked a slightly different colour and softer so i think she has shed. Any advice really appreciated, also any tips on how to get them eating would be great, thanks.

Oh, and their set up is a 36x12x18" viv with heat mat on a thermostat, 2 dry hides and one moist, hot end 88-90 daytime and about 78 nightime.

There are some that like the moist hide more than others. Some will never go into it, others will hang out there a lot. I'd say it should be fine. If you find they don't eat after the first week you can try upping the warm side temp a couple degrees. I take it from the description that you have one male and one female to together. Keep an eye on them to make sure there is no bullying when it comes to eating. Also, prepare yourself for babies. I don't know how old they are, but they may start to breed if they are close to the right age and weight.

I bought them as a breeding pair, they have bred before apparently but previous owner never incubated the eggs. I wanted them as i thought iot would be nice to have 2 to see them interact together, but so far they are completely nocturnal so a bit dissapointed! They are adults but exact age is unknown, is there a way of telling their age?On another forum where i posted the same question, I have just been advized that the hot temp 88-90 is too hot, although i had heard 90 was about right!

88-90 is not too hot, many people, including me, keep theres around 94, so 88 is not too hot, IMO, it's too cool. They can/will breed at those weights, so be prepared for eggs, have your incubator set up if you want to keep the eggs. Leos are nocturnal, so you are not going to see them be very active during the day-although i do see mine during the day.
