leopard gecko egg close to hatching???

I have a egg incubating among others in a cricket tub filled with vermiculite.its on day 62 and is incubated for female.Last night i candled the egg and you could clearly see the outline of of little gecko scrunched up inside it.Last week and this the egg has got massive and has not had any incubation problems what so ever.this morning i checked the egg and it has 2 slight dents over the top of the egg and it feels soft.last night the egg was very firm and a nice white colour.does this mean its ready to hatch? as i have hatched loads of geckos out before but not seen this before.i have put some slightly damp kitchen roll over it for now but i cant think what else it would be as all the other eggs are doing perfectly and so was this one.i made sure i didnt turn it or anything so cant think whats wrong with it.any ideas???:main_huh:

I would remove the damp papertowel. Your egg is getting ready to hatch! Don't forget to post some pixs.

just a little update.i have come home tonight and checked the egg.i found the gecko half hatched,alive.beautiful jungle gecko.when i went in the box though i knew something was wrong as the hatchling wasnt screaming at me or even bothered i was there.sadly after a little help out the egg i realised the gecko had a massive prolapse.it looks like its bowl or stomach.it is alive but i dont think it will last very long and it might be kinder to put her to sleep.

Don't put it down, post pics. What you may be seeing is the yolk sack that just has not been absorbed yet, this happens time to time and is not too much of a big deal.

If it is the yolk, keep the little one on very moist paper towels inside the incubtor so it can absorb the yolk and he should be fine!!

I agree with Fe. It might just be the sack and it should be fine.

I have to agree with the other two. It sounds like the yolk sac. We have had a few hatch that way. A couple absorbed it in a matter of hours, and 2 had it come off. They are all doing just fine. If you use the search function you may be able to find a picture of what it looks like to compare. Please keep us updated.
