I recently got a leopard gecko, he's about a year old and still pretty shy. So far I've been feeding him just meal-worms and wondering if I should add roaches or crickets to the mix. And if so how often and how much? Thanks

Yes, variety is great for geckos! If you're buying in small batches, it's easy enough to just rotate what you buy. It can get a bit harder if you're ordering in bulk because you end up taking care of a lot of different insects. Do what makes sense for you. There isn't really a set schedule for when you should change up the food.

Leos love to have crickets. Not only is it fun for them, it's fun for you! It is so FUN to watch them hunt! This chasing prevents them from becoming obese. I suggest feeding yours 3-4 crickets everyday around 7:00. Good luck!

He's mostly active at night so I don't get to see him in the hunt! The crickets kind of creep me out but I've mostly gotten over that.

I hate crickets and onlyt feed them to my leos once every year or so...haha. I give mine a few roaches once every week or two and feed a rotation of mealworms and superworms as their staple. I pretty much just plunk a couple in their bowl and they eat when they want.
