Leopard Gecko has stuck shed sticking out of his ear; what can I do?

So my 1 year-old male has some stuck shed sticking out of his ear. I'm not sure what to do to remove it because I'm afraid I'll hurt him and I'm not sure what would be safe to use around his ears. I've added some pictures as well. They're not the best, but they were all I could get because he wouldn't stop moving about (I can try to get closer pictures if you'd like. Also ignore his feeding mess for now, it's cleaning day tomorrow so that'll all be cleaned out). Any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks!!

Soak him in a half inch of 90-95 degree water in a closed tupperware for 10 minutes. Repeat in 48 hours if its still there. I don't think I would worry a huge amount unless it gets worse with his next shed. I probably wouldn't try to pick it out yourself.
