Leopard gecko making whistling noise after fight?

One of my male leopard geckos, Herb, is making a whistling noise when he breathes. It started two weeks ago after he got into a fight with another male of mine, Phil. I was watching them meet for the first time when Phil latched onto the back of Herb's head. Herb, being larger, turned around and grabbed Phil's neck. He wouldn't let go and I was afraid for Phil's well being, so I rushed into the bathroom and ran them under some water. Herb seemed to panic and went into a barrel roll (like an alligator) before letting go of Phil. Afterwards Herb was making a clicking noise and a faint whistle when he breathed. I used to have ball pythons and sometimes when I soaked them, they whistled for a bit after. I thought it was because of me running water over his head for a few seconds. But it's been two weeks and he's still making the faint whistle. I can only hear it if I hold him up to my ear and even then it's still very quiet. He eats just fine, is active, and seems very healthy (his coloring improved greatly since being in my care). No discharge around the eyes or nose, or any signs of an RI. Any input is greatly appreciated as to why he's still whistling. And don't worry, Phil and Herb are in separate enclosures and will never come into contact with each other again. I read that some males can get along if you supervise, but not these two.

Dude. Males never get along. I don't know where you read that info from but NEVER put two male leopard geckos together they will fight to the death. Even if "supervised" it causes a lot of stress for them. I really hope your geckos are okay and I have no idea what to tell other than to take it to the vet. I really wish people would research a lot more before putting any animals together. On every site I've seen about leopard geckos is say DO NOT put male and male together or Female and male together. Too much stress will come from it and animals can be harmed.

Agreed. Never mix males together.
I would suggest a vet visit, hopefully he's not injured. Sounds like he probably breathed in water and has a slight chest infection of something. Antibiotics might be prescribed if this is the case.
It's best to get it checked out asap.

I have a friend that kept a male and female together. She said that they would fight occasionally, but that it was never serious. I also read an article and saw a video where people kept two males together and they didn't fight. I obviously know now that I can't have them together ever. Herb is still whistling. I'll have to call my local vet office and see if anyone will will look at exotics.

Just because you see two males together on a video and they weren't fighting then, doesn't mean they wont fight once they hit sexual maturity. And keeping male and female together causes a lot of stress for the female. The reason the two most likely were fighting is because the male was bugging the female to breed when she wasn't ready. On top of that you then how to worry about the female over breeding and have eggs all the time that you yourself have no idea what to do with. So over all, if you want your gecko to live and long happy life, keep them apart.
