My female leopard gecko is about 2 1/2 years old and she has always been "retarted" she only eats crickets and i've been trying to get her on mealworms, but all she does is lick them and walk away. How would i get her to eat mealworms? Also when she eats crickets shes always slow and misses them even when i pinch their back legs off. Most of the time i have to feed her by hand and she sometimes misses them as well. What could i do to get her unretarted?

I don't consider a gecko "RetarDed" (spell check??) just because it doesn't like mealworms. I have quite a few geckos that much prefer to eat crickets. There's nothing you can do to help her become "un-retarded" but you should perhaps read a few gecko care sheets and learn a bit more about the pet that you consider to be so dumb.

Hand feeding her isn't going to help her hunting skills. Give other types of worms a try. Butterworms, silk worms and horned worms are all very healthy for geckos. Maybe she'd prefer one of those. Once she tries one worm, she's more likely to try another. You can even *TRY* wax worms to stimulate worm interest, but DO NOT use wax worms as a staple as they are extremely fatty and can cause liver damage. If she eats a wax worm and enjoys it though, she MAY be more likely to try a different type of worm.
