I've also posted the same thing in the Leopard Gecko forum section. Which one is easier to maintain, cheaper to maintain, and more fun to maintain? My little brother really wanted a leopard gecko so I gave him mine. I told him how to keep care of it, and if he did a good job I'd pay for supplies for his very own gecko. I was thinking of getting either a baby leopard gecko or baby bearded dragon. So what one is easier to take care of, cheaper, and more fun?

Because you're on a leopard gecko forum, the answer might be biased(just a little lol) but you need less space and lighting equipment for a leo seeing as it is a smaller and a nocturnal lizard. 8)

Having both Beardes and Leos it’s a hard one to say. I really like them both. I don’t think that either really takes a lot of work to take care of. Beardes are probably a little bit more time consuming, but they stay out so that you can view them more which I like. They also seem to be more willing to be handled. My Leos are pretty good about being handled but it has taken more work to get there. I would say if you have a Leo already try a Bearded. As time goes on you will probably have more than one of both anyways. They have both been a pleasure to keep.

Beardies are definitely more work.
They poop a lot and its much bigger than a leos... as they are bigger. Leos poop generally in one area and beardies just poo where ever they feel like it, many times in the food dish... yuck!
You feed both veggies and insects, while leos its just insects.
Beardies Have to be kept hotter and in a larger environment since they get a lot bigger.
Beardies are cool tho because they do get big and are really docile. They seem a little smarter to me as well but thats just my opinion.

It depends on what you're looking for in a pet. Low maintenance and nocturnal or high maintenance but active during the day. XD I think I might have replied in length on your other posting. At least I posted to someone's thread about this...

Honestly, if you can afford to go either way and you have a lot of space for a big tank, I would go with a beardie. They are just too much fun to not have at least one in your life.

I'll second that. :main_yes:

I might have responded to this on the gecko forum...But I've had both. Like everyone else has stated, I find beardies cool because they are active when you are, they are bigger so they don't feel as fragile VS a leo, and I think it's a pro that you don't have to rely on feeding bugs all the time. There's been times where I've ran out of bugs (unplanned) and there was a holiday like christmas and I had nothing to feed my leo's. Where a beardy you can just go into the fridge get some veggi's. However, if I had to choose I'd choose a Leo. They take a lil more work to "tame". Yes the bugs are a pain in the rear. But I feel that they are more attractive, less work, less smell, smaller so you don't need a huge setup. Leo's poop in the same spot (most of the time) beardies crap where ever..So you could have like a poop hut that you just pull out and clean. I know some people use the "little Johns" that are hamster litter boxes and their leo's use those. Not to mention with proper care, they live (or should) 2x longer VS a beardy. You don't need a ton of lights that need to be replaced due to UV requirements. Leo's aren't as fun to play with or watch, but I still find they make a good pet.

i think they are both cool i dont have a beardie but my cousin does and i think they are awesome pets even though they are more work and dont live as long. but still they seem like they are well worth it and im having a hard time deciding weather my next reptile should be a ball python or a beardy but im leaning toard beardy for the one i first get
