As the title says, my Leopard Gecko's eyes are not dilating at night, therefore, he cannot see too well at night/in the dark. Any suggestions that I could do to resolve this problem would be helpful. Also I feed him superworms gutloaded with carrots and sometimes oranges and I also leave a dish of vitamins with D3 in the terrarium. Please tell me if I am doing anything wrong and what I can do to correct this problem. Thank you and God Bless - Moefv

well, you may want to consider supplementing in a different manner :)
there are many methods of properly supplementing, but this is what works for me :D

1- dust the superworms with the calcium w/ D3 every other feeding

2- put pure D3 free calcium in the tank at all times. this is because leos might lap up the calcium in the tank when they feel that they need it, but vitamin D3 can be toxic in large doses! so keeping pure calcium in the tank eliminates that risk!

3- a vitamin supplement containing vitamin A, dusted on the feeders once a week. the vitamin supplement can also be dangerous in large doses, thats why you dont use it very often. but vitamins are neccasry for skin, eye, and the overall health of your gecko.

other then the supplementing thing, i dont know what could possibly be wrong with his eye. im sorry i cant help with that... hopefully others will chime in and tell you different ways to supplement so you can figure out what works best for you, and maybe someone can give better advice with his eye :)

Have tried looking at his eyes in a dimmer setting or without light? Camera flashes, normal room light, flashlights will definitely make his pupils into a vertical slit. Use the natural light on coming from your mobile phone to observe (not a phone flashlight)
