I just acquired a Leopard Gecko with a huge tail like the size of my thumb (I'm 6'3, so I have large hands). I feel as if it's to big. I will try to get a picture uploaded shortly. I own two other geckos that don't have as larger of a tail. I was just wondering if it's a sign of over feeding maybe?

I do think these geckos can and do get TOO fat, which is bad for their long-term health. A photo will help us see what you're referring to but if he's too fat it's just a matter of cutting down his food a little, feeding every 1-3 days instead of daily, etc.

I am going to cut the feeding down to every other day for a couple of weeks and see if that helps. I know a obese gecko is not good for long term.

Every other day seems like a lot. If you're trying to slim her down I would give about 5 mealworms/crickets or 1 superworm/dubia each feeding. I've been feeding my older male only once a week for about a year now. He's lost 2g...lol. Most of my adults get fed every 4 days or so when they're not breeding.

wow that is a big tail. i wouldn't say that she is overweight though as the body looks good. when they start to get obese, fat builds up over the entire body, their stomachs overlap their back legs and they get cankles lol.
