Hey Everybody,

I just got my first two leos!!! I am very excited!:D They are each about 4-5 inches and are really healthy! :)
(Will post pictures in the other part of forum soon)
I know that younger leos, in general, take longer to adjust to their new homes than older leos.
I wan't to know what I can look for to know when my leos are settled down, then I will start putting my hand in the tank etc.
Also, is there any way to speed up the process? Thanks for all your help and time!

Sincerely,
Chessman007

Keep in mind there are some leos who never like to be handled no matter HOW much you try.. My girl, Ozy, is like that. I've had her almost 4 months. Have been raising her since she was a really tiny baby. She has never dropped her tail or tried to bite me. She just voices her displeasure (it kinds of sounds like a clinky, chirping noise) Done all that taming stuff, like putting my hand in her viv, so she can check it out, hand feeding, the whole nine yards... She has NO interest in my hand (never has) and doesn't even like me to gently touch her on the head or ANYTHING. The only time she wants anything to do with me is when I have the tweezers with a fat roach or mealworm on the end. LOL! She's had shed stuck on her leg a couple of times and the whole time she just chews me out.. :p

Ozy thank you, you indirectly answered my other thread about Razor making chirping noises. I was just wondering what it was at first. You however answered my question quite well. Again thank you very much.

LOL! Well that's good.. Yea, when you have a little baby (like yours) and they start chirping or squealing while you are handling them, it's best to just put them back and leave them be. Don't want a dropped tail. Ozy is a very unusual gecko.. She's quite vocal when she doesn't like something, but she is also about 6 months old now and 5-6 inches long. When she was really little I never tried to handle her. I would just put my hand in her viv and hold it still (as per taming advice).. She's still a brat. hahahah

She is still very young. She may become calmer and a bit friendlier with age and more size. A couple of years from now she may be a big fat, healthy gecko and be much calmer. 5 to 6 inches is still pretty small. It's way too early to label her a gecko that will never tolerate handling. Also, I don't think any gecko I've ever owned would have enjoyed me petting them on the head! I don't know many animals that do enjoy it. Even dogs don't enjoy it usually. They just learn to tolerate it for us clueless humans...lol. :)
