My son, Gabe, was VIP at school. He got special permission to have me visit with his geckos. I brought in both his jungle & Tremper albino. He was all too proud to show off the J & G markings on his jungle--especially since the kids really didn't believe him.

We didn't allow the class to touch or hold them, but Gabe walked them around for close ups. He did an amazing job. I have to admit, proud mom & all, that he was an excellent spokesman on gecko-care. He talked & answered questions for nearly 30 minutes.

And yes, as mentioned on the rhac page (my other reptile show & tell)...I may have some upset parents who really don't want their kids getting geckos calling! Oh well, it's worth it!

Very cool! I think it's great that he understands so much about them and can appreciate them...some kids just don't care and what something that's cuddly that they can squeeze! Not good for geckos! :D

But I can see why you're proud! Sounds like you have a very smart little boy!

Ahhh! That's awesome! That was neat that the teacher let you bring them into class! I think it is good for children to learn how to properly take care of pets, too (of any kind!) and some kids never get that education at home.

Not a gecko, but I took our green cheek conure-a small parrot-to my daughter's second grade glass, when they were discussing birds for a demo.

I did the same thing earlier this year with my son's before and after school program. They had an "all about me" project and he brought pictures of many of our leos so I volunteered to bring some in for "show and tell". I was really amazed at how interested and what great questions came from a group of 5 and 6 year olds. If only I could do something so rewarding for a living ...
