Hi there
ok, i saw my leo, just under a month old licking a tiny bit of calcium from the calium bowl.
since i put it there, there has been deductions in the amount in the small dish of calcium, so obviously she has been licking it.

i dust all food with calcium and alternate with vitamins calcium supplement, but of course, depending on the food - some retains more than others

if your animal licks calcium - does that mean they are under supplemented or is that normal? is that how they ensure they are well supplemented?

mealworms dont retain much calcium and vitamin powder lol crickets are good though for that.

now, i want to know if my animal is normal by licking the dish of calcium. cos i cant get much more calcium and vitamin powder on to the mealworms lol

Geckos will eat the calcium if they need it which is why it's recommended to have the little dish of calcium right in the tank. No worries. :)

Its perfectly normal for them to lick the calcium, that's why its there after all.

They regulate their own calcium, if they feel they need it they will lick so dont worry about it :)

All is well!
