Hi i just joined because i need some help and cant find anything about this on the internet.

My older female leopard gecko has the usual problem with shedding around her feet. i usually have to help her by using warm water and gently pulling. i guess i havent been paying close attention, but tonight when i was helping her shed i noticed like extra build up on one of her toes that i must have missed many times.

after painstakingly removing the build up with lots of soaking and gently tweezering the dead layers off, i finally got it all off only to find that it had all been building up a super long curled toenail that is so long it curls under the toe next to it!!! you can see that in the second pic. might be why i missed it. i didnt even know leos had toenails until tonight when i had to figure out what the heck i was looking at. unfortunately she is also losing half of a toe on the same foot . what do i do about the toenail???

You can clip reptile nails just like cat nails. Only take off a little at a time though, since they have a quick and can bleed if cut too short.

I have a little pair of nail clippers used for babies that I use on my reptiles.
