How long did it take your first time male to figure out what to do? I've put my pair together for 4 separate sessions; although no successful copulation yet, I have strong feelings he will succeed soon.

First off, my female is definately ovulating. However, her patience only lasts for about 10-15 minutes. After that, she'll try to bite the male to get him out of her sight. My male, on the other hand, is very persistant. He will not back off at all. To avoid them breaking into a serious fight (female is 80+g and male is close to 100g), I will separate them as soon as I see the female snap at him.

Here is the male's progress so far:
1st attempt: very gentle nipping for 45 minutes until female gets irritated.
2nd attempt: nipping becomes more aggressive; female got grumpy after 10 minutes.
3rd attempt: normal rough nipping, climbed on top of female and vigorously smudge his butt left and right on the female's back...after 10-15 minutes, female got grumpy and bite down on his tail.
4th attempt: got into the copulation pose within the first few minutes; held that position for about 10 seconds before separation. HOWEVER, I don't see his hemipene sticking out and he didn't clean himself. So I suppose no copulation...Again, female had enough of him after 15 minutes and tried to bite his head.

Looking at the trend, I think he's close to figuring out the last move. How about your first timers? How long did it took him to figure out what to do?

But she is biting him...like chomp down on him, not nipping...I'm pretty certain they'll end up in a big fight if I leave them together unattended. I can introduce him once everyday, leave him in there until I see the female bite him; then remove him and try again the next day. I thought that'll be less stressful and safer for both of them.
