My mother notified me this morning that her older brother died yesterday from cancer. He had been fighting cancers most of his adult life and at 60+ years old cancer won. I hardly knew this uncle as my grandmother had run out on him and his father a when he was a child, and he only came into our lives 8 years ago. Time and miles made it hard to see him, but I did get a chance to talk with him, not as often as I would have liked, as he loved to travel, and was never home very long. My uncle Eddie was full of life and a love for life, even when he knew it was the end. I will miss the man I got to know and the man I had yet to know more about.

Felicia, I am sorry to hear about your loss. At least you got the chance to get to know him, and it sounds like he lived a good life.

My parayers are with you and your family.

Thank you, Vicky, Bonnie & Jeanne. I've never really been at peace with someone's passing as I am now. He struggled most of his life with different cancers and beat all of the odds. They told him last year that this time he wouldn't beat it, and only had about 6 months. He doubled that time and spent it living life to the fullest. Even when they said 24 hours, he stretched it out to 3 days. He was a fighter and very positive about everything in life, even his own death. I guess what's the hardest is that out of everyone in my mom's side of the family his is the one that I'm most like. I'm just happy for the time we did have and he's not suffering anymore.

Thank you Scott. I try to be a very positive person, and try to look at the good in all things. There is a positive to my uncle's passing, he's no longer suffering. It's the beginning of our suffering, but I feel his suffering was long enough. We will remember his life we were able to share with him, with joy, as he would have wanted.
