Lighting Question

I have been reading mixed things about night time lighting. Are black lights bad for leopard geckos? Should I only use a red light? The purpose of the light is for viewing him when he is active. Anyone who could throw some info my way it would be much appreciated, thanks.

Ok I use a red bulb and also a night vision bulb that simulates moonlight but cant recall the name. No problems here sofar. My new carrot-tail seems more active if the blue light is on than when I use red yet both are same wattage. As for blacklight I haven't used them.

Thanks for the reply I am going to go to petsmart tomorrow and pick up a low watt colored light to use just for viewing. Thanks again

After my red light expired I didn't replace it for a while. I'm really sure that Hidey missed it. He's out much more now that I have a new one.

Leo's do not see red light, so it's the red light that you want to use for night time viewing. I would not worry about using anything other then red light at night for viewing.
