they are suppose to have about 9 hours of day light. if not they will not know when day light is or when night time begins. so i would turn a light during the day

I'm new at this too. But others say that leopard geckos require no special lighting, as long as they have heat underneath? Or, are you referring to turning on regular lights so they know night and day?

You could save yourself some hassle and set up a low wattage bulb in a lamp on a timer. The low energy bulbs or a 40w or less spot bulb would do the trick. It would save you having to go and switch the light on and of and would save electricity just lighting the cage!

they aresupposed to have 10 to 12 hours of daylight. I reccomend getting a heat bulb or daylight bulb for them. I have a daylight bulb which provides enough heat and it looks better.

actually with him already having heat in the cage (uth) he does not want to get another heat source or it can get WAY too hot for them...make sure you look into info or know what your really talking about before giving a new person such as yourself recommendations such as that that could hurt or even kill their animal. and instead of rating other owners -numbers for being an average leo owner think of it as your the same as them.
