My mother has had this lion fish for almost a year now and not that long ago the tank went crazy because the anenome died so the nitrate went blasting up and starting to hurt the fish. The lion fish got sick and stopped eating and was floating upside down when he could, he couldn't get his balance. He also tore part of his fin but that has healed. The question I have is what is going on with him now. He is swimming more and he acts like he used to and is alert but he wont eat anything and it has been almost two weeks and he still wont take anything, live or frozen. And then he likes to swim at the very top of the tank with his eyes out of the water. I don't know why he wont eat and I would like to get this fixed for my mother while she is away so she has some good news to have when she comes back.

Well I know for sure when they float upside down its bad diet
People for some reason think its ok to feed freshwater goldfish and other freshwater feeders to a saltwater fish (Never made much sense to me)
So check your diet is the number one thing you can do.
Basically you prob need to test your water and do a small change.
Also, it maybe the size of the tank or maybe you bought it from petco or some other chain that are notorious for selling bad fish.

I'm sorry to read about your mothers Lion Fish

When I kept them I always switched them to frozen Krill etc. asap
I know that most pet stores feed the feeder goldfish which I agree is a bad diet for them but I found it fairly easy to get them switched over to frozen food

If the water parameters are OK-you might try Hex-A-Mit
It has been known to stimulate appetite
It is water soluble Metrodiazole and it will not harm the fish or damage the Bio filter

Good Luck with the Lion-I have always loved them
Not that it matters-
Is this a full sized or a dwarf?

We do not feed it fresh water gold fish, he has been eating frozen food for awhile now but he just wont eat. He is a full sized lion fish and tomorrow I may be able to post a picture of what he looks like.
