I have a 20 gallon long tank and one ~year old leo. I'd like to get another, but I want a bit of variety; are there other geckos that would live well with another leo? I know another female leo would be fine, but what about another species?

if you only have a 20 gallon it is to small to put in another species - the rule is 1 species per encloser. This because in captivity the animals dont have the same possibilities to move away from eachother as they have in the wild.

and each species has a different demand to there housing.

either you can get another leo or another tank for another species

male/female or female/female... those are the combinations that will allow the leos to get along in SOME circumstances, it really just depends on the animal. Some females are straight up loners. Never put two males in the same enclosure. Even if it is a 6' x 4' x 8' custom made enclosure.

Yeah, I've heard of even two females attacking each other, if maybe one or both likes to be alone. So I'd invest in a second tank.

Mixing species is a bad idea right from the gate. There are a lot of risks in doing so. Forcing an animal that is trapped in a box to compete for food is just wrong IMO. Even if you provide enough food for all of said animals, they have no sense of reasoning, only animal instinct and to them other animals are the opposition. You may also be risking the animals getting each other sick. Even with Leos it is a better idea to house them individually.

I do have a spare 10 gallon so if I get another leo and they fight, I can easily separate them. Are there any leo morphs to avoid that are naturally aggressive?

I've heard blizzard males can be aggressive and I know mine is extremely aggressive. Some say that's a myth, I have no idea because I only have one.

My blizzard girl is a bully also XD been the crabbiest thing since hatchling. She will gurgle, yell and finally bite you if you don't let her be.... A friend used to have an albino that was very jumpy as well...

On the other side I have a ...(mack/lbreed/gem?)-snow and a normal that's been adorable since the begining :3.
