I have a 75 gal aquarium that has 1/2" temper glass in the bottom. I can't seem to get the flexwatt or the zoo-med uth that I have to get a good 90 degrees when I mount them under the tank.

Can you place the heaters (on a thermostat of course) inside the tank but under the substrate i.e. slate or tile????

I am already equipped with a thermostat and even on full balst 130 it doesn make the surface temp in the enclosure close.

I would highly recommend not putting the heat mat inside the tank. That is not how they were designed to be used. I would suggest getting a blue or red heat lamp to supplement the heat mat.

A thermostat does not increase the wattage a UTH can put out over being plugged directly into an outlet.

You may be able to use tin foil or heat reflecting tape under the UTH to bounce more of the heat back up to the floor of the tank.

I just think the glass is too thick. Heat tape works well and so does styrofoam. But again, I think your glass is just too thick. Alot of people dont like the idea, but you can put heat cable under the substrate inside the tank. Its just a little iffy cause its controlled shorts with an, all be it small, uncontrollable animal. Meaning with out hurting the leo you couldn't make it stay away from a cord. But I think heat cable inside would be fine.
