So I decided to make a thread for my future leo male Loki. This is were you can see his habitat, fun pics of him, and updates. I dont have him yet, but i'm getting him tonight at 7! Cannot wait. He is a tremper albino. He is 13 years old, and missing a few of his toes, but ill still love him :) I cant upload pics right now, but i do have some already. Im buying him and his tank. He has a 10 gallon tank right now, with a log half hide, eco earth substrate, moist hide, UTH, and water bowl. Pretty plain. Im ordering new hides and fake plants and calcium for him also. His favorite foods are dubias, but he also eats turkistan cockroaches, mealworms, and sometimes crickets. I cannot wait to get my guy tonight, he would be my first gecko (not my first reptile, ive owned a cornsnake and some frogs and salamanders before). Ill keep try my best to keep his form updated, and ill hopefully get some pics on here tomorrow! He has the most gorgeous eyes, wonderful white markings on his tail and im lucky to be getting this guy tonight.<3 He can get fatter, his kind of thin. I know he is mising his back toes on one back foot, im not sure about the others and he has is original tail. Im rescuing him from this lady a few towns over, he has been in her family for 13 years. Hatched with the ladies brother. But anyway, ill upload pics soon, ill try to today. <3 WELCOME TO LOKI'S THREAD <3

And he does not eat in that tank, he gets put in a empty separate sterlite bin to eat, which i may do to unless i switch him to paper towels.

Got Loki Last night. Glad i picked up some paper towels! I got him and and once i unwrapped him, (the ex-owners wrapped his tank in a blanket) I instantly saw a cricket in his tank, and i've read about crickets munching on leos, so i removed it. Then i moved his very small hide, which doesnt fit him, and there were mealworms burring in the cocobark. I removed Loki and placed him in a sterlite tub with his moist hide and some paper towels, and dumped the coco bark out. It was filled with dead shriveled crickets and mealworm shell things. It was disgusting. Then there was this white stuff all over the deeper layers of bark. I removed all of it and cleaned his tank and put paper towels down. All the bark on the bottom was wet, and i literally had to scrape it off with a puddy knife. There was like 3 inches of bedding when i got him, they must of put it in their before dropping him off to me. He came with a UTH that was way to small, a 2-5 gallon one that covered a less than a quarter of the tank. His "moist hide" was a plasctic sandwhich container with a dry washcloth in it that was covered in feces. So i removed that. The ex owners must have swtiched around cage decor before giving him to me, becuase after looking at the pics above, thats not the moist hide or water bowl that came with him. I put damp paper towels in his moist hide and placed him back in his tank. His log is too small and cant fit in it either. Sooo long story short today after school im defiantly going to the petstore to pick up some more feeders, 10 gallon heat pad, an appropriat sized hide, and some eco earth for the moist hide. Cant believe this.

And, this poor guy is thin. The ex owner said he was being picky with his food, but when Loki breathes in I can see his ribs. His tail is very thin. Thinking about picking up some wax worms and calcium for him today also, i know waxworms are high in fat and addictive to leos, so im planning on feeding him 2 wax worms with his other feeder mix for some more fat in his diet with this regular food. Hes eating dubia roaches and mealworms, he ate 5 medium dubias and a somewhat large one last night. And im not sure if this is a sign of agression, but when i open the tank lid to fill his water, feed him, ect, he stands up as tall as he can get on all 4s, and almost puffs out. I did pick him up to place him back in his tank, and he was fine with that, but thats all the "holding" ive done for now. Dont need to stress him out more.

And after looking at some videos on youtube, i do remember Loki waving his tail once at me. And everytime i come up to the tank he comes up to the glass and just licks and licks his face and/or stick his tongue out. Not sure what this means, but as i said before i did have to pick him up to move him and he did not run away or was scared, he just sat there in my hand.

Congrats on your new Leo!! Sounds like you found him just in time, the poor little guy! Sounds like he's going to live the rest of his days as a charmed little man! I bet with in a couple of weeks you'll have him spoiled and fattened into the perfect lap lizard! :) enjoy him!! He deserves it if his e enclosure was even half as bad As you described!!

Update on Loki!

So i know im supposed to be uploading pics on here, but i've been forgetting my phone at home. *sorry* Last night i went to the petstore and bought a 10 gallon zoo med UTH and some zilla brown reptile carpet for my guy. After an hour after placing the UTH he seemed alot happier and was out and about. I went to go check on him before bed lastnight and he was out and looked very alert, like on the prowl, so i placed him in his feeding tub and placed the tub of dubias in with him, he went crazy! So i dumped some out and last night he ate 10 mixed sized dubias! It was fun to watch! It made me so happy Loki ate, since the owner said hes been very picky and not eating. I updated his 10 gallon a bit, and now on the cool side is his dish and moist hide, and on the other side his small half log and a butter container hide. he loves the butter container!

What kinds of supplements are you using? The reason I asked for pictures of him standing is because he looks like he has had a history of MBD, so good supplementation is going to be pretty important for him. His front legs look a bit bowed, and I was wanting to see if his spine straightens all the way.

Sorry, i didnt see your post neon, but i dont have anything yet, im ordering stuff off from amazon this weekend. I do have pictures but i forgot my phone so i wont be able to upload them today ( i might, but not sure) Ill look up that MBD and see if anything resembles how he walks and such. Ive noticed whenever i lower him down in his cage to put him down he bends, he doesnt go off my hand straight, and he cant climb that much, i figured its becuase of his lacking of toes.

I looked up some videos and such of MBD and if he does have it he doesnt have it as severe as the leos i saw. He is 13 years old, i a noticed he does sleep with his legs in some wacky ways. Ill take a look at him some more when i get home, and take pics and maybe a video of him walking.

They work. He definitely looks like he had MBD in the past, but he is standing strongly so he's probably recovered from it. Just make sure you supplement properly (I know you will, since you listed the two types of calcium in your amazon shopping list). Also, make sure he gets some vitamin A. He's missing toes due to bad sheds, and vitamin A will really help prevent bad sheds.

I can't tell if his spine ever straightens. If it doesn't, it was probably also affected by MBD.

He is a really adorable gecko! Very sweet face. [emoji4]

If you haven't placed your order yet you might consider going with Repashy Calcium Plus as a daily dusting supplement. It will cover all of his vitamin, mineral, and calcium needs. You could still put a small dish of plain calcium (no D3) in his tank so he can supplement extra calcium as he needs, since he does look like at one time he was suffering from MBD. Repashy is an all-in-one so you don't need to worry about mixing and switching powders at different feedings. If you have already ordered then it is something to consider for your next order.
