Long post about this season and next

Now that I got ALL my incubator problems figured out Im finally having success. Ill have to check my records to see how many, but I know that I lost almost all of my eggs this season. This was my first time so hopefully my next seasons will be better.
Ill update once I check my records but out of all my eggs Ive had 11 hatch. Out of that four died shortly after hatching.
A blizzard died within minutes of hatching.
An albino's egg ruptured and it died after I looked inside a few days later.
A normal DH blazing blizzard hatched with notched eye lids and had to be put to sleep.
And my only AFT to hatch wouldnt eat and resisted hand feeding.

My survivors are:
An albino jungly-striped possible het raptor
A blazing blizzard (clutchmate to dead blizzard)
An albino het blizzard
A normal DH blazing (clutchmate to above albino)
Another normal DH blazing (clutchmate of notched eyelid baby)
And two circle back bells

My breeding projects included:
Striped AFT X AFT, striped AFT, Amel Aft
(all but one egg died, and hatchling died. Amel never bred.)
Giant jungle albino het raptor X giant het albino, giant tangerine CH possible het RAPTOR, murphy patternless, normal sized albino
(all but two eggs died. first hatchling was from the CH mother, and im waiting on a single egg, which I lost the records of who the mother is... I mark who the father is on eggs and write down who the mother is on paper along with date.)
Blazing X possible hets
(several clutches died, but ive had the most luck with this group. I proved out one female as a DH, and one female as at least het albino.)
Bell X Bell
(out of two clutches, two bells hatched.)

My plans were to have more projects but some females havent wanted to breed yet this season, and some females I am unsure of what projects to work them into. I wont be introducing any more pairs to eachother until I get racks built though, because im really running out of space...
Now that im having success, Ill be making my first "sale."
My supervisor at the shelter wants a pet lizzard, so im going to let her have her pick of one of my hatchlings or one of my hypo tangerines, or high yellows. The only exceptions are my blazing hatchling and my striped hatchling. Both are something that I wanted to hatch, and both are going to be used in future projects next season.

Next season I will be narrowing down a little bit. I feel that I took on too many projects this season with my limited time and will be narrowing down to just a few groups:

blazing X possible hets (same group as this year)
Different blazing X DH and albinos het bliz (daughters from above group)
Raptor het X Blazing (goal is to make giant blazings. Female giant would not breed with my normal sized BB, so i'll breed a BB to a giant albino male. I should get giant albinos het blizzard and 50% het raptor. From there the next season I should get giant blazings and a chance of DBs...)
Raptor het X all trempers (that are not from blazing group.)
Bell X bell (bells are intresting)
One of the above blazing males X super snow (eventually want SSBB)

So I will be cutting out the high yellows, tangerines, and murphy patternless. That will save me space (from having to branch them off into seperate projects later) and let me focus on my main goals: to produce white geckos, giants, and the random things of the raptor gene pool.

thanks for reading, this is a kinda rambling long post :p

Sorry to hear about such a crappy season... It was a good learning experience it seems; so that's something positive to think about. I wish you better luck next year and thanks for sharing your experience with us!

It was a good learning experience. :main_yes:
It helped me realize that I needed to narrow my scope a little bit, helped me fix all the problems with my incubator, and most importantly, that you need to be prepared for anything when it comes to breeding.

This last egg is taking its time though...

I had 20 clutches this year. That was 36 eggs, because some were one egg clutches.
Out of that:
7 hatched and survived,
4 babies died shortly after hatching
1 is due to hatch any day now, and
24 eggs died due to mold.

That breaks down to roughly a 19% success rate as of right now. That will jump up to roughly 22% if this last egg has no problems.
