I have an empty exo terra naturalistic vivarium and am having some trouble as to deciding what I should get for it. I've had my eye on a pair of (Is it Rieppeleon or Rampholeon now?) Brevicaudatus. I would greatly appreciate knowing a few things about them from people who have experience with them.

1) Are they relatively easy to care for? I have leos and a Crestie for comparison.

2) How easily do they breed, and how hard is it to hatch/take care of the babies?

3) Can they be handeled at all?

4) Last but not least, are they worth the money? I know they are about forty dollars, but I could also use any info as to finding them cheaper somewhere.

Thanks for any help you can give!

I currently have a pair that I've had for 5 months. They are pretty easy t care for. I have them in a 12x12x12 exoterra. I use a 5.0 UVB flourscent for lighting. I don't heat the tank other than that. they cool to mid 60's at nite. I feed dusted 1/8,1/3" crickets to them. They are quite the chow hounds. I use a sand peatmoss mix substrait, I mist once a day and do a good job soaking them personally. AS far as handeling goes I don't they are @ 2" long and real delicate and I don't really want to stress them out. I haven't had any breeding yet but you never know. As far as worth it...thats a personal choice that I think you need to ask yourself. I treat mine more as a look at than touch type of pet. But thats just me. Good Luck!

The pet store I used to work at used to sell pygmy chameleons that I think are the same or similar to what your talking about. We kept them in a large kritter keeper, under UVB(all our animals were under UVB except fish(reptiles, birds, etc.)), and little to no heat. We misted their tank twice a day, had a ton of plastic plants for them to crawl on and used coconut fiber and sphagnum moss. Fed them 1/8"-1/4" crickets daily.

We never had any breeding but it was a pet store and they came in still juveniles so sexing was not easy. I was under the impression that when breeding/laying was over that the female died? I could totally be wrong.
