I love my little snow enigma, I think she is so so soo cute. She didn't show any of the typical enigma traits until the past few weeks .. she was a hatchling from last season. I know some star gaze, walk in circles and that sort of thing. My has developed a head twitch like she'd jacked up on caffeine poor little thing. Of course she eats like a pig and is just as healthy as her raptor tank mate I kept back from last season but I feel bad for the poor little thing. I planned on breeding her next season .. now I'm not sure if I want to add her to my breeding group now and contribute to the genetic behavioral problems enigmas have .. what are you guys opinions on breeding enigmas?

its ultimately up to you to decide. i breed enigmas but try and focus on the geckos with little or no signs of the syndrome. i have some that have extreme signs that i will never breed. you must be prepared to cull the offspring if something goes wrong when they hatch. and i would never breed enigma x enigma. nice looking geckos btw.

I have a friend who crossed her enigma to her super snow and they were so cute I grabbed a hatchling off her. Some of the other hatchlings other people got off her do the star gazing thing but mine appeared to be completely normal, until just a little while ago, now she has a slight head twitch from side to side, no major and not all the time but noticable ... think maybe I should bump her out of my future breeding plans ...I have had to cull hatchlings before, not the most pleasant of task, I also now have a vet that will put them down for me at no cost but still ... Now I feel like I'd be breeding with the deck already stacked against the odds of producting "normal" enigma hatchlings :(

IMO i would absolutely never breed enigmas. Why would anyone intentionally breed an animal when u know there will be physical and neurogical defects?? That does not make sense to me

I was looking for opinions of other people who have bred them to see what their experiences have been like. I can see both sides and why some people may choose to breed them or not to breed them .. Lots of people choose to breed them and the enigma female mine came from has no visable enigma type traits at all, although I also know there is no such thing as a truly unaffected enigma .. in this case I think I will just enjoy the beautful one I have for what she is and stick to my other breeding projects next season.

Just to say "A Good Thread".....
Comments are weighing on my opinion
of breeding to a friends beautiful
MS enigma male.
I've been on again/off again with my
decision.
But having to deal previously with finding
homes, or dealing with extra time caring
for a few needy ones has me thinking
"why risk it?"
It's very unpleasant for me to think
of putting down any animal.
Again, why risk it?
My thanks for the thread and comments.
Take care. HJ
